Wedding Bells

Posted under Uncategorized

Recently, Gracious Promise has been working with a young couple as a part of our program to help them succeed. While talking to them one day, they mentioned that they had really wanted to get married. When everything came together, it seemed like Gracious Promise would be a great place to hold the event.

We wanted to share a few pictures of the event with you.

Gracious Promise Gadget Drive

Posted under Uncategorized

It’s amazing what a few days of slightly warmer temperatures and sunshine will do. The word “spring” begins to lurk around the tip of our collective tongues. With that in mind, Gracious Promise would like to propose a new idea for your spring cleaning.

Do you have electronic devices around your house that you don’t use? Maybe you upgraded your cell phone this winter or your kids have got a Wii and aren’t using their Gamecube anymore. Selling these at a garage sale doesn’t provide much return, Ebay or Craigslist can be a hassle, and finding a recycling center can be almost impossible.

One of our staff uses a service called Gazelle to get rid of his old gadgets. Gazelle’s site asks you to enter the name and condition of your gadgets and then provides a price quote based on market value. It also shows you the market trends of the device’s value over time so you can even wait to sell if the value is increasing or sell quickly if it’s decreasing. Once you agree to a price, Gazelle sends out a free shipping box for you to return. Once they receive the item and confirm its condition, they will send out (based on your preference) a check, gift card or credit your paypal account.

So what does that have to do with Gracious Promise? Well, Gazelle also allows charities to do gadget drives. So you may go to our gadget drive page and the money from any gadgets you submit will be donated to Gracious Promise. We are holding a drive to raise $3000 between now and May 1st. We hope you’ll consider supporting this cause. Our Gadget Drive site is here:

This Friday: Grandma’s House Auction

Posted under Uncategorized

Dear Friends,

Everything is coming together in preparation for the upcoming auction of Grandma’s House. The house is not only beautiful, but it is a record of the lives of little children who have been touched by love in action. Please accept my heartfelt thanks. Your reward is coming!

We invite you to the auction event this Friday, October 16th. The bidding will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Grandma’s House Auction Brochure (Download PDF)

We are selling the property in order to liquidate our only asset. This will allow us to continue services at Gracious Promise Foundation beyond the current economic climate. Our incoming financial donations have declined over the past two years. When we free up these funds, we will be able to retain the remaining staff and keep up with budget items such as utilities, taxes, insurance, etc.

In a time where our services are needed even more, we also need your continued prayer and financial support.  Thank you to those who have given sacrificially so that we can offer hope of housing, employment, medical assistance, education, clothing and food.  Last week Jerod, a Boy Scout designated his Eagle Scout project efforts toward the homeless offenders recently released.  We are proud to say that he collected and organized volunteers in packing 152 large bags of hygiene items.

Thank you for extending your hands and love to Jesus. He sees your efforts and compassionately states “I was in prison and you came to visit me!”  - – Matthew 25:36

Touching Through Him,

Shirley A. Miller
Executive Director
