A Greater Need for Services

Posted under services

As you certainly know, these are difficult financial times for many faith-based organizations, and we are saddened to hear of several valued ministries that have closed their doors.   As a result, we are experiencing an even greater client load.   To address these needs, we continue to expand on the way we deliver services while striving to keep expenses at a minimum.   We have recently set up donated workstations where our volunteers may meet one-on-one with clients as they process intake information, and where we hope our clients may work on job searches, resumes, and assessments in conjunction with a new employment program we call  Project H.O.P.E.

For additional information on Project H.O.P.E. please click on the PROGRAMS heading (above) then click on Employment Department.

As noted above, it is our hope that our clients will have access to a computer at each workstation, thus our Wish List currently includes four desktop computers. While we would like to run Windows XP or newer,  the Windows 2000 operating system is also usable.  We will gratefully welcome any workable equipment donation that may help us reach this goal.

Your financial donations are also very much appreciated during this time. Without you we could not operate and continue to touch lives in meaningful ways.  And most important, we appreciate your prayers for our clients, our staff and for our friends in this ministry who now find themselves without a job during these difficult times.

Thank you again,

The Gracious Promise Foundation Staff

Annual Roundtable Mardi Gras Luncheon

Posted under partners

Hi Everyone,

It’s that time of year again when we all get together for our Mardi Gras lunch on Fat Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

Rather than our usual “third Friday” meeting, we always meet for lunch on Fat Tuesday. We’ll meet for the regular Round Table meeting time from 9:30 to 11:30.  Lunch will be served at 11:30.

For those of you that can’t attend the entire meeting, please feel free to drop by when you can.  Just let me know you are coming.

Directions:  Gracious Promise is located at 1021 Pacific Avenue- just a few blocks off I-70 and 18th Street in K.C.K.  There is a new shopping center called Prescott Plaza at 18th & Pacific, so as you  head northbound on 18th, simply drive once block past the shopping center entrance to the first street on your right called “Bunker”, turn right onto Bunker and head east  for one block, then turn right onto 16th Street at the stop sign which will then curl east back into Pacific Avenue.  Continue eastbound on Pacific for 8 blocks to 1021.  GPF is on the south side of the road in the large brick building (the former post office).

We will be serving the usual:

  • Jambalaya
  • Crawfish Ettoufee
  • Red Beans and Rice
  • Hot Boiled Corn and Potatoes

Then to top it off – - – we will have Marcy’s famous home baked cookies.  How much better can it get?

Roger Werholtz, Secretary of Kansas Department of Corrections, has agreed to visit that day as our special guest speaker – - so we are looking forward to a wonderful day.

Invite a friend, RSVP by Friday, February 20th, and we’ll have plenty for all of you.

Shirley  Miller, GPF Executive Director
